DUX High-Performance Sleep Systems are the result of nearly nine decades of research and testing. Four generations of the Ljung family have aspired to produce the most comfortable and technologically advanced beds on the market. The Swedish roots reflect in the highest quality and long tradition. Increasing comfort, performance and longevity have been the DUX goals since the beginning. Our technology works... and we have the history to prove it.
The long story short
On a cold night in Chicago
In 1924, the Swedish chocolate maker Efraim Ljung checked into a small hotel in Chicago and was fascinated by how comfortable the bed was. Using a small pocketknife, he carefully cut open the mattress to discover flexible springs inside.
From chocolatier to bed maker
Back home in Sweden, Efraim shifted his focus from his confectionary business and began devoting all his time to experimenting with flexible steel springs of varying strengths and elasticity. He formed DUX and began manufacturing mattresses in Malmö in 1926.
Local to global
In the U.S., the history of DUX stretches back to 1953 when Swedish furniture designer moved to San Francisco, CA, and established Dux Incorporated. In 1977, a showroom and offices opened in New York, NY.
In 1987 DUX introduced the DUXIANA marketing concept in Europe, Great Britain and the United States.
A family affair
Over 90 years on and our premium Swedish brand is still 100% family-owned. Efraim Ljung’s four great-grandchildren, Henrik, Charlotte, Anders and Oscar have readily assumed Efraim’s role, expertly running the company along the path set forth by their ancestors.
